CHIESA DI SAN FRANCESCO

It is presumed that the church was originally built in the XIII century and it is certain that in 1529 it was handed over to the Confraternita di S. Antonio Abate by the Francescani; in1544 is was given back to the same Francescani who enlarged it (1556) with the construction of the gallery characterized by three big round arches in brilliant stone.
A shell shaped rose window above the door dates back to 1672. The inside was renewed in 1750-52 and enriched with paintings and wooden statues among which that of Our Lady of Sorrows on the main altar.
