PIAZZA PARUTA
The square, designed by the architect Antonello Sotgia, is the most important meeting place of the city. The multipurpose centre where conferences, exhibitions and various events are held is of importance. On the fortieth anniversary of the earthquake (2008), a statue by the sculptor Zora was put at the entrance of the hall. In front of the square there is a permanent nativity scene made from stone, by local craftsmen.
On the Viale Leopardi part of the arched structure of the Scaminaci windmill which stood in old Salapruta on the road to Gibellina has been reconstructed in memory of the industriousness of the old destroyed town.
